Little moments, such as an interestingly shaped pedal, stigma or anther can be overlooked, especially in a flower such as the peony. Its presence is grand. Its boundless and rich infusion of hundreds of pedals forming a dense, and beautiful ball, makes it easy to miss much within its natural design.
I am most fascinated with the overlooked or those moments which are not obvious. For this peony painting, I use combinations of color that I feel complement each other in intensity, while creating interest. Colors that compete for the eye’s attention, in an effort to highlight great moments throughout.
