Patti Samper is an artist from Bogota, Colombia, and is also French and American.
Patti attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts BA program, where she majored in Photography (84-88). While a student at NYU, Patti worked as a photographer in the music & fashion industries. She co-founded Bear Records, an indie record label that produced cutting edge post-punk bands like Flower (NYC), Tinker (Montreal). Patti continued to live for many years in NYC, and later in Paris, working as a commercial photographer and creative director in the music and fashion industries. Patti appeared seasonally on tv news and print media forecasting color, fashion and fabric trends.
Patti also holds a Master Pastry Chef diploma from the French Culinary Institute (Int’l Culinary Center) in New York City, and was the first student invited to execute her stage at Le Bernardin in New York City (2005). After completing her stage and studies, Patti launched Patti*Cakes, Ltd., an award-winning, custom cake company.
This momentous event in Patti’s life was the catalyst between photography and painting. Patti enjoyed the artistry involved in creating unique cakes with hand-sculpted and tediously painted, life-like sugar flowers and other decorative motifs.
In 2009, Patti began to study painting at the Yard School of Art in Montclair, New Jersey, followed by The New York Academy of Art in Tribeca, New York City.
Patti exhibits her work in the USA and internationally and has works in private collections.
Patti lives with her family in Montclair, New Jersey and her studio is located at the Manufacturers Village Artists Studios in East Orange, New Jersey.
